In 1982, Continental Hardware - which is now known as
Continental Steel Pte Ltd - started off as a small trading company at Jalan Wangi
(off MacPherson Road), occupying a floor area of 35 square metres with no warehousing facilities.
It advanced progressively with the nation to become one of the biggest steel suppliers carrying material
from all over the world in the stock. Along with its development, Continental Steel has increased the
trading and stockholding capacity and now owns a 33,000 square metres of fully covered and multi-storey warehouse.
The company has a significant sales turnover increase over the past few year with more than S$150M in 2006.

The warehouse is facilitated with the latest
handling systems, ensuring quick delivery and turn-around time. Not only
does it have a conducive environment for better production, it also has
the capability of operating round the clock to meet extra large quantity
deadlines. There are also 20 heavy-duty over-head cranes, which are remotely
controlled for loading/unloading operations. With larger stockholding
capacity, the warehouse is now able to accommodate 150,000 tons of material
in a rust protected environment.

Apart from being a steel supplier, Continental
Steel also provides value added services such as shearing of steel plates
(up to 20mm thickness) and cut & bend operations managed by our subsidiary
company, Viewforth Trading and Engineering. Beams and columns of up to 40-inch
section height can be sawed accurately with the help of auto sawing machines.
Auto shot blasting treatment and painting are also readily available for
a better surface finish and protection. The fully computerized system and
a highly motivated team of staff members provide a more efficient processing
of regulatory formalities and deliveries.

The company consists of 9 shareholders, three
of which are Directors of the Company. However, Executive Director Mr Melvin Soh play the main roles.
Currently, Mr. Alvin Wee is in the Committee of
Singapore Metal and Machinery Association.

The company has a team of technical engineers to provide
technical services adding values to our steel products. Continental Steel is primarily
engaged in the warehousing and distribution for structural steel. It has been the sole
distributor of British Steel's (now Corus Tubes) for hot finished structural hollow sections since 1986.

Continental Steel has actively participated in many major projects
such as Tuas second link and Tuas Power Station, Singapore Polytechnic, MRT stations, Ocean Tower Building,
Comcentre, Singapore Alcohol Project, SBS and TIBS Bus depots and various indoor stadiums, Ng Teng Fong Hospital and Jurong Community Hospital. It has several
experiences working closely with various government departments, private consultancies and local universities.
It is also registered with the Housing Development Board as a steel supplier and Cut and Bend operator.
